Angels Landing 1st Blog Hop - New Release

Happy Wednesday everyone! Welcome to the first ever Angels Landing blog hop! We are all excited to introduce an Angels Landing new release of two digital-stamp sets, Alphabet Train and Toys on Wheels. As you can already tell it's all about the young ones this week. These two are such adorable sets that I will be reaching for over and over again! The train leaves from Judi's blog first so make sure to hop on over there to see where the Angels Landing Blog Hop Express stops next...

For my first sample, I created an adorable door hanger great for a baby boy or girl! This project uses the following digi-stamp sets: Toys on Wheels, Alphabet Train and Pierced Tags. I've seen so many great examples on SCS that I knew this what I wanted to make when I first saw the Angels Landing new images. The base is created from a Martha Stewart label template that Melstampz had a link to on her blog (you can find it here). The pdf file was turned into a jpeg file by cropping only one of the images from the page. By doing this, you are able to resize the image needed for your project or card and print only a single label.

I tried to simulate the nursery rhyme "The Cow Jumped Over the Moon." The sleeping moon is cut from the Cricut New Arrival cart at size 4.5 inches. I embossed the moon with D'Vine Swirls and the hat with Swiss Dots. The cow was printed at 2.5 x 2.8 inches, cut out and mounted with Scotch mounting tape for a 3D effect (the moon is also on dimensionals). Because I felt like the patterned paper had a busy design I chose to line it with some vellum and used my Apron Lace punch on the top and bottom so that the Moon and cow were showcased. I spelled Baby using the Alphabet Train digi set and was colored in with prismacolor pencils and baby oil. I punched out two holes at the top with a crop-a-dile and inserted matching ribbon for hanging. To top it off, I printed off a blank tag from Pierced Tags and used string to attach it to the bottom of the moon. The sentiment "Keep Quiet" and "Sleeping..." is computer generated using Arial Narrow font at size 16 and 20. I used some Aleene's paper glaze on the cow spots as well as the letters.

Stamps/Digital Images: Angels Landing (Toys on Wheels, Alphabet Train, Pierced Tags)
Patterned Paper: DCWV Nana’s Kids
Cardstock: Jo-ann’s Value Paper stack (Purple, White, Yellow)
Ink: Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Antique Linen), Stampin’ Up (Summer Sun), Prismacolor Pencils (Colorless blender, Light Umber, Parma Violet, Black, White, Process Red, Goldenrod)
Ribbon: Wal-mart (Wide Yellow Grossgrain
Die Cut: Cricut Personal Die Cutting Machine (New Arrival, moon size 4.5), Cuttlebug (D’Vine Swirls, Swiss Dots)
Punch: Stampin’ Punch (Slit), Fiskars (Apron Lace)

I created a matching card using the Card Positioning Systems sketch for this week: CPS 120. I printed the cow with wheels this time to make it look like one of the old pull toys. The card is pretty much self-explanatory. Instead of the printing the alpha on wheels right next to each other, they've been separated to accommodate some stitching to make it look like one of those old pull toys. I remember having one of these when I was younger - LOL. The "BABY" alpha wheels were printed at the same size as my door hanger. The patterned paper had some bling on the stars so I decided to outline the letters with glue glitter. I added some stitching by piercing the paper first with a long needle. Then I began to stitch from the bottom and create just a straight stitch and recreated the feel of an old pull toy with some string carefully glued on the bottom of the card.

Could not be cuter. :D

That was an inspired idea, to have the cow jumping over the moon. Beautiful coloring job on the images. I like how you've coordinated everything, and the cows are adorable done this way.
