Daylight Savings Time starts today!

If you haven't heard Daylight Savings Time starts today - so make sure to jump start your clocks and SPRING FORWARD!!!

Yey, can't wait for Spring (and Summer)!

Check out some fresh new talent...Pee Wee Stampers! So Cute!

Check out Zoe's Card Creations...she just turned 9 yrs old today! Happy Birthday Zoe! She is now a 9yr old avid stamper like her Mom - Nikki (Bunny-Zoe's Blog). She is one talented little lady. She also recently added a new feature to her blog - MUSIC! Now, if you have younger children like I do and love music, you are all familiar with the hottest Disney pop stars like Hanna Montana, Cheetah Girls, Selena Gomez, High School Musical, etc. Yes, embarassed to say that I do rock it out with my 5 and 4 yr old in the living room and watch those Dismey movies over and over again! More embarassing to say is that when Mommy knows all of the words to the theme songs and songs that they have sung in the movies. Hey, you have to stay a kid at heart - what is wrong with that??? *wink*

Here's another one to watch... Ansley - click here to check out her blog Little Stamper. She is the daughter of Lacey Stephens (Hand Stamped by Lacey). I just recently subscribed to Lacey's blog - another great talent and she showcased one of her daughter's creations. Lacey has an incredible eye for detail and love her creations.

Birthday Blog Candy at the Paper Garden Projects & Mel Stampz

Check out Mel Stampz's blog...she is the queen of templates. She is always thinking out of the box (literally)...she creates the most awesome samples, provides links to other tutorials and samples, and gives great suggestions on how to make or do something. She is one amazing papercrafter! Cheers to Mel!!! While reading her most recent post, I found out about this blog candy challenge going on at Paper Garden Projects.

The Paper Garden Projects turned 1! They are offering some fabulous blog candy to help celebrate their first year and I hear it's Cathy's birthday celebration as well. Check it out here... The challenge is to make a hilarious birthday card using funny images, jokes, or puns...BUT if you are not feeling "funny" then you can make a card using primary colors (red, blue, and/or yellow). Here is more info on the Paper Garden Birthday Challenges...

SFYTT 2.21.09 - Happy 90th Birthday Grandpa

SFYTT 2.21.09

My hubby's grandfather celebrated his 90th birthday on February 27. I know...his grandfather has seen and done a lot of things in his lifetime. He and Grandma have over 12 (maybe more) grandchildren and great grandchildren. They remember everyone's names and are so very generous when it comes to special occassions. So, I wanted to send Grandpa a little something special to help celebrate his special day. I have been contemplating this idea for over a year or so and just now have put life to this idea. I am more of a papercrafter than a scrapbooker so I recently took some inspiration from SCS member 1HapEMomE and fell in-love with her distressing and layouts. She is amazing! All of her LO's just flow together so nicely and the colors blend so well together.

The frame was painted with Memory Makers Chocolate acrylic paint. I used masculine dp from Memory Block Inspirations line. Grandpa is Polish and each of their sons' and grandsons' were given a Polish Eagle necklace pendant. I had this stamp set from Club Scrap (that I got from a great trade on SCS) called Sheer Genius - Club Stamp Academy line that had a great image of an eagle - what better image to use on the frame and matching card! I pretty proud of myself that everything came together so quickly. Oh, and the card is for Jen Del Muro's SFYTT 2.21.09. I don't normally get to participate in many challenges but having a sketch to follow makes it easier to put a card together. I used some vanilla and kraft cardstock to pull it altogether. For the sentiment, I scoured the internet for the perfect saying. I finally realized that PTI had this great masculine/father set called Father Knows Best. Since I don't own the stamp set, I printed one of the sentiments on my computer. The sentiment reads, "It is not flesh and blood, BUT THE HEART, that makes us father and sons." I thought this was so fitting for the layout I made. It sure did the trick when we received a call from his grandfather on Sunday night thanking us for the gift and told us he had a tear in his eye after reading the sentiment and added it was the best birthday he had ever had. Now, my friends, a comment like that made me feel so proud that I had thought of this gift. Even hubby's Mom called on Monday to let us know how nice the gift was and how nicely the small get together was they had on Sunday...

Well, here's to Grandpa and 90 great years!!! Grandma's birthday is in April so I have to think of something extra special for her.

Thanks Jen for another wonderful sketch that inspired me to make this special card!

Two Challenges...One card STVPF 1 2.27.09 & SFYTT 2.28.09

Wow! I can't believe how adventurous I was tonight...I created one card that involves two totally different challenges! This is a feat I have not done before. So, I pat myself on the back for getting this done since I never really have any time for challenges. I actually managed to get 4 challenges done but will upload tomorrow. With that said, this card was created for the following challenges: Split Screen Challenge by Melanie Muenchinger on StampTV (STVPF1) and I {heart} to stamp Sketch For You to Try by Jen Del Muro (SFYTT 2.28.09). I just saw that I missed the StampTV challenge...and Melanie already picked a winner at 8pm CST - shucks! But I still have time to turn this in for Jen's SFYTT sketch for February 28 - she's got some great candy to give away to the chosen winner! I've only won one blog candy so far and am crossing my fingers to win this time.

More posts to come tomorrow...
