Hello All! This week is all about celebrating summer at Angels Landing. I would like to showcase some cards made with the new digi-stamping set called Mini Bears and Birds. For only $4.99, this set offers over 52 files! This was inspired from Judi's teddy bear line (you can see a pic of her inspiration in these posts on her blog: New Release: Mini Bears and Birds; Mini Bears: Chubby Chubby; Mini Bears: Chubby Cousins) Judi is one talented lady...her first book had sewing patterns for six bears.
This is the template I used to create the apple shaped card. If you are interested in creating one, refer to the measurements above to create a 5x5 card.

One of my favorite images from the Mini Bears and Birds set is Chubby Cousins bear. The expression on his face shows just how much he wants to give you a hug so I thought this image with a bird perched on his shoulder would be a card to give to a friend who has been under the weather.
This was inspired by this project from croppixie on SCS (you can see her sample here). I ended up drawing my own apple pieces, scanned it and created my apple shaped card (you can see how I used the apples as embellies in this post here and here) . What's great about digi images is that they are resizable. Once I imported the picture of the body of the apple, I resized it to 5.08 x 5.34 inches. This created an approximate size of a 5x5 card. My sewing machine was having a tantrum again so I ended up creating some faux stitching around the apple and apple pieces. I used the Swiss Dots embossing folder on the center layer and distressed it with Antique Linen ink. Topped it off with gingham ribbon, lace, and the image. The inside of the card showcases the sentiment, "Hope you'll be feeling better beary soon."

For the second card, I wanted to simulate Bearly Adequate bear sitting on a beach. So I used the wavy sentiment to my advantage and used it to simulate a sand dune by distressing and embossing with it the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I printed the sentiment at .61 x 4.15 inches (perfect for a 4.25x5.5 card) and hand drew the wave above the sentiment before cutting. To create a second wave, I just used the first one as a template and flipped it over before embossing. To simulate the waves in the background, I used the SU slit punch to create waves and used my D'Vine Swirls embossing folder for some depth. The sun is a die cut created from the Cricut using the George cartridge (size 3 inches) embellished with glitter glue to make look like it was glistening. Bearly Adequate bear was printed at 2.01 x 1.33 inches and cut out to make him sitting on sand enjoying the day at the beach. I added a fun paper pleating technique I had seen in a Papercraft magazine issue last year at the bottom of the card to tie it all together.

Alma, these two Angels Landing creations are sensational!!
So much beautiful work and exquisite craftsmanship in each one!! I love your careful attention to detail which makes these cards so delightful!
I like how the apple has its plaid set on a 45° angle. The inside of that card looks so finished off, and the sentiment worked well trimmed that way. You also did a great job on the beach card, setting that wavy sentiment into the curved sand. Nice. :)
Your bear cards turned out fabulous! Very nicely done.
Wow!!!! I love both cards; the apple card is so cute!
