Sheetload of Cards: December '09 Sneak Peeks

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. My son came down with a nasty cough and pink eye this past week that he ended staying home with my hubby on Thanksgiving day while my daughter and I went to spend the day with one of our good friends and their family. They have invited us over to their house for Thanksgiving every year since moving out here so it's been nice to spend the holidays with loved ones even if our immediate family is so far away.

Anywho, December is round the corner and Sheetload of Cards has a new issue in store for you - probably the biggest issue ever! Here is a link to the sneak peeks for December...I'll be posting the December download link in a few days. See you then! In the meantime, enjoy the rest of the Thanksgiving weekend and the hustle and bustle of Christmas shopping!!!

Sheetload of Cards October '09: God's Promise and Autumn Harvest Brag Book

BOOO...Happy Halloween everyone! It snowed on Thursday and Friday so you can just imagine how cold it is in my parts of the country! It's supposed to be Fall and old man winter is upon us! Eeeeepppp!!! We might not have as many kids trick or treating because of the weather. But the school has an indoor Halloween carnival tonight which we will take the kids to since we won't be going door to door for candy.

Anywho, it is the last day of October and Sheetload is getting ready to show you the new ezine that will be ready for download tomorrow.

And these are my last two projects I made for the October ezine. Without further ado...

This sympathy card (size 5.5" square) uses the image called God's Promise from DRS Designs. Since the main image was already a sentiment, I added a red crochet fleurette in the corner with a button and crochet thread for some added color and added a bit of vintage flair. I just love the richness of fall colors that I decided to use coordinated fall themed papers from the Autumn collection of the Me and My Big Ideas paper pack.

The last project I have to show you is a clear envie brag book I created to send to the grandparents for Thanksgiving (you can find the tutorial here). This project uses the image Scarecrow with Fence. It is actually a pretty big stamp which was another one I had trouble working with at first. So ended up cutting off part of the design to make it work with the layout. I used some dark brown felt for the scalloped oval that frames the main image. For PP2, I created a background paper with the "Autumn Harvest" sentiment and used my SU spriral binding punch and sponged it with Antique Linen distress ink for an added vintage look. I also used my prismacolor pencils blended with baby oil to color the image. I used coodinated paper from Me and My Big Ideas Autumn collection. I topped it off with a wide brown grossgrain ribbon on the side and a Petaloo jeweled florette (you can find here).

And that is it for the month of October...I hope you enjoyed seeing my projects as well as the rest of the DT gals projects for inspiration. Make sure to come back tomorrow to get the download link for the November issue. Everyone stay warm now, ya hear?

Sheetload of Cards: Beyond the Card - Birthday Book

I am going to switch gears this week and show you a Beyond the Card sample for the Sheetload of Cards October ezine. I created a birthday calendar book inspired by Jennifer Meyer from Stamps and Smiles (you can find her tutorial here). Just beware that you will be using lots of adhesive to adhere all of the pages back to back. It also takes precision to adhere the patterned paper. But it is all worth it at the end!

This is a such a beautiful stamp and has so much detail that I had a hard time matching it with patterned paper I had. I finally found the perfect patterned paper - one that coordinates that wasn't so busy!I used Garden Scene Butterfly (L064) for the main image. It took me a couple of tries to get just the right colors. I watercolored the image using SU inks. Then, of course, had to add some distressing detail by sponging Creamy Caramel all the way around the image and distressing the edges with my scissors. The "Birthday Calendar" sentiment is computer generated. I added a flower on the upper right hand corner for some added 3D effect. I used the Blossom Nesties to cut out the flower. All three layers were dry embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder. I added a mini clear decorative skittle in the middle of the flower.

Head on over to DRS Designs before the month is over to take advantage of the free shipping! Code can be found by dowloading the October ezine.

Well, that is it for now. Thank you, as always, for coming by! More to come soon...

Sheetload of Cards: Happy Birthday Wordsearch

I hope you've had a chance to download the October ezine already. Lots of great inspiration, don'tcha think? Well, all of the Sheetload ezines always have great ideas.

For this sample, I used the Kids Birthday Wordsearch stamp (P1109). It took me awhile to figure out how to use this stamp because it was so large. Can you guess who's style I adapted to this card? Any guesses??? I took inspiration from Silke Ledlow. She always has a way to make simplicity look fabulous and I've been wanting to case her style of stamping for awhile now. Not sure if you can tell, but a second white layer of cardstock is popped up with dimensionals. I used some paper from the Sassafrass Lass Sunshine Lollipop collection for some added color to the background. The main image was stamped using Palette Burnt Umber ink. At first, I was going to just circle the word Happy Birthday then I got carried away and found all of the words - LOL! I finished it off with some silver metallic brads on the upper left hand corner and adorned with a wide hot pink grossgrain ribbon with some prima flowers and string.

Well, I hope you've had a chance to take at all of the wonderful creations in this month's ezine and have taken advantage of the special "free shipping" offer (code available in October ezine) from DRS Designs.

Hope all is well! Till next time...more Sheetload cards and projects to show yah! Thanks for stopping by!!!

Miracle of Love - October '09 Sheetload of Cards Sample

It's finally here...a new month gives birth to another awesome sketch from Sheetload of Cards! The sponsor this month is DRS Designs (access their online catalog to check out their latest and greatest products). Lots of fabulous creations from the Sheetload DT crew as well as from the DRS Designs guest artists. With every page, you will feast your eyes on lots of Halloween and Fall inspiration in addition to a few all occassion cards and projects.

For my first sample, I created a simple wedding or anniversary card. The main image is Blending of Lives Verse (G-569). This is what the verse says:

The blending of your lives
is a gift from God above
A blessing from the heavens,
it's the miracle of Love
Congratulations

Isn't that such a lovely verse? I used Spellbinders Nestabilities, Labels Four and Classic Circles, to showcase the main image. Instead of using a sentiment (since the main image is already a verse), I used a ribbon bow to replace where the original placement of the sentiment would be. In place of PP2, I used a sticker embellie from Sassafrass Lass Sunshine Lollipop collection (buy it here). I also popped up another sticker (heart) to embellish the focal point a little bit.

Just a quick announcement...DRS Designs is offering a super deal for all of our Sheetload fans! Make sure to take advantage of their fabulous offer and download the October ezine for more details! Don't wait...

Stayed tuned for more cards and projects throughout the month...thanks so much for stopping by!
